Here’s a funny story:<\/p>\n
Once someone asked me about what specific “real” companies I’ve\u00a0worked for that I’ve helped in email marketing and how they\u00a0benefited. He also wanted to see some examples of my work, saying\u00a0if he wanted to hire me, how would he know I had any successes at\u00a0all… and so on, and so forth.<\/p>\n
My answer?<\/p>\n
If I did client work, I’d go through the trouble.<\/p>\n
But, I don’t do client work.<\/p>\n
So, why would I bother?<\/p>\n
Pretty simple, yeah?<\/p>\n
Well, not for this dude.<\/p>\n
He replies with:<\/p>\n
“I think you’re a snake oil salesman. All of your “mysterious” tips\u00a0and “secret” ways to make money. Did my homework on you. Not\u00a0impressed at all with your writing skills either. Good day to you.\u00a0I’m sure I’ll be “blackballed” or parodied in your email\u00a0newsletter.”<\/strong><\/p><\/blockquote>\n
Amusing stuff.<\/p>\n
Let’s see…<\/p>\n
1. He sounds butt hurt about all this.<\/p>\n
2. If he’d really done his “homework” a simple Google search would\u00a0lead him down a rabbit hole mentioning various clients,\u00a0testimonials, experiences, etc. (HINT: When someone said they\u00a0researched you, and gives no examples of what their “research”\u00a0uncovered — it means they have no real argument or point.)<\/p>\n
3. My site says I don’t do client work (he did his homework?)<\/p>\n
4. He said my writing didn’t impress him, yet he’s butt hurt over\u00a0the fact I won’t spend time digging up links, etc to show him.\u00a0(If my writing sucks, why waste time seeing more of it?)<\/p>\n
5. He anticipates being “blackballed” and parodied.<\/p>\n
Well, yes, to the parody.<\/p>\n
When someone sends you hate mail, butt hurt mail, or is being a\u00a0troll… you should mock it.<\/p>\n
It’s good for the soul.<\/p>\n
And, can make you sales.<\/p>\n
But, no to the blackball thing.<\/p>\n
That’s for opportunity-minded customers — and nothing\u00a0to do with hate mail, troll mail or just good, old fashioned butt\u00a0hurt mail like his.<\/p>\n
Sheesh.<\/p>\n
So much for doing his homework.<\/p>\n
But, you know what?<\/p>\n
I hate to leave the naysayers empty-handed.<\/p>\n
