{"id":9998,"date":"2015-08-08T06:30:55","date_gmt":"2015-08-08T13:30:55","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/bensettle.com\/blog\/?p=9998"},"modified":"2015-08-08T06:30:55","modified_gmt":"2015-08-08T13:30:55","slug":"a-wonderful-awful-idea","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/bensettle.com\/blog\/a-wonderful-awful-idea\/","title":{"rendered":"A Wonderful *Awful* Idea"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A little while back, Producer Jonathan Rivera (who produces my\u00a0podcast) asked me to look at his ad for this podcast services.<\/p>\n<p>So I did.<\/p>\n<p>And then I told him:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><strong>&#8220;The problem isn&#8217;t with the copy, the problem is who the copy is\u00a0written to.&#8221;<\/strong><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>In other words:<\/p>\n<p>He was trying to create demand.<\/p>\n<p>(Sell people on wanting to do a podcast.)<\/p>\n<p>But, as I told him, it&#8217;d be much easier and more profitable to talk\u00a0only to people who (1) want to start a podcast but have no idea how\u00a0and (2) people who already have podcasts but are frustrated with\u00a0all the details of making it work, sound good, get new listeners\u00a0tuning in, monetizing it, yada yada yada.<\/p>\n<p>Anyway, that&#8217;s when I had an idea.<\/p>\n<p>An awful idea.<\/p>\n<p>The elBenbo got a wonderful, *awful* idea.<\/p>\n<p>And that idea was to critique Producer Jonathan&#8217;s ad on the air,\u00a0live, hot-seat style.
