Behold Og — king of (motivational) giants:
“I will avoid despair but if the disease of the mind should affect me then I will work on in despair. I will toil and I will endure.”
– Og Mandino
I dig that quote.
One of my all time favorites.
Why?
Because despair can happen to anyone, at any time, for any reason, and without being deserving of it. It’s happened to me many times in my life, it’s happened to everyone I know, and, I would bet green smackola, it’s happened to you.
(Maybe it’s even happening now…)
And guess what?
It could happen again.
When it does, are you going to roll over and quit?
Let it control your emotions?
Allow it to shape your decisions?
I hope not.
Because it’s during times of gnawing, grinding despair when real change (good or bad) happens. And if you take Og’s attitude, there’s a MUCH better chance of that change being good.
Hey, let’s face it:
You can’t always control what happens to you in life.
But, you CAN control how you react.
So when despair hits…
Keep moving forward.
Use that negative energy to do great things.
And, tell despair it hits like a little bitch.
Who knows?
You might look back and realize that time of gut-wrenching despair was the best thing that ever happened to you.
Alright.
Enough beef soup for the soul.
If you want more attitude lovin’ like this, check out tomorrow’s “Ben Settle Show” podcast.
It’s all about attitude.
How to give it.
How to use it.
And, yes, how to profit from it.
It’ll be posted tomorrow.
