Brian Kurtz kinda reminds me of King Josiah in the Old Testament.

King Josiah (or KJ as I call him) was an ancient Israelite kings.

And after a few hundreds years of it being forgotten, he rediscovered the book of the law while his high priest was renovating the temple — complete with realizing all the judgements that were about to befall the land for not following the law for so many years (worshipping other gods, pagan idolatry, setting up high places to worship false gods, etc).

Again, reminds me of what Brian Kurtz did in marketing.

True story:

If you use video sales letters, you’ll love this…

I was reading about a website run by Applied Neuro Technologies titled “The Affects Of TV on Your Brain” — about how video (specifically TV, but methinks this applies to online video, too, if done right) alters a person’s state of consciousness, making you more open to suggestions (i.e. persuasion, buying, etc).

Here’s how it works:

First, TV induces low alpha waves in your brain.

This puts your brain in a relaxed, meditative state, and way more open to suggestion. And although in small doses this is good since it makes you more relaxed and even more insightful… too much of it makes you unfocused, prone to daydreaming, and unable to concentrate for very long. (The analogy is, it’s similar to staring at a blank wall.)

How long does this process take?

According to a 1969 experiment by one Herbert Krugman…

Less than one minute.

That’s all it takes for your brain to switch from Beta waves (active, rational, logical thinking) to Alpha waves (unfocused, suggestible, etc). In other words, watching TV shuts down the part of your brain responsible for logical thought and activates the part that makes you more prone to suggestion (persuasion).

Is it the same for online video sales letters, etc?

I have no idea.

But that might explain a little bit why people will hyper buy stuff from infomercials, videos, etc, and be more open to suggestion to buy things they wouldn’t normally buy.

Anyway, food for thought, my little Droogie.

Let me tell you a story:

I have a couple of friends who attend our Oceans 4 Masterminds in the weight loss niche who do great emails, write great copy, and have great results. And so, often when they come to us for advice, we are giving them ways to goose up their already big response using things like emails, funnels, copy appeals, headlines, etc.

I’m talking 1995 style website.
