Reader Bryan Rider writes on my Facebook wall:
“Funny thing happened man. Once I took a concept from your sales letter (no refunds) and put it into my consulting practice my results exploded. It’s totally counter intuitive to what we hear, though you get 10x better clients who are COMMITTED to the process. This was explanation to myself: ‘stop selling to people who don’t want to commit to anything and sell to people who are committed to results. Until someone is committed, information is just a waste of time.'”
I approve of this message.
Look you:
Lots of people fight me on the no refunds thing.
But if you’re selling something high ticket and high quality, where you’re spitting out advanced information not easily found anywhere else, why give the option?
Do universities give refunds?
No?
Then why do you?
You sho’ ain’t doing them any favors.
Think about it:
Who do you think is going to be more successful using your product: (1) The bloke who can refund on a whim or disapproving look from his wife… or (2) The bloke who has NO CHOICE but to make it work, or it hurts?
My money is on bloke #2.
Hey, do whatever you want.
But if you sell high ticket products/services… and want higher quality customers who utilize your teachings and don’t complain, would it kill you to at least test no refunds?
Who knows…
You may even make more sales.
And, grow your business faster.
(You’ll certainly have less headaches.)
Speaking of clients…
Once upon a time (last year) an “Email Players” subscriber (and freelancer) wrote telling me doing emails the way I teach had gotten him lots of “fan mail”, but no actual clients.
When I saw his site, it was obvious why.
And so, here’s what I did:
I wrote him a long, detailed email (a “perk” of subscribing to “Email Players” is you can ask me questions) telling him exactly what to do to get booked solid — fast. Not just techniques I used to use when I did client work, but also ideas learned from other high level freelancers as well.
(Not just copywriters, but other services, too.)
And guess what?
That email is in the March “Email Players” issue.
But, you gotta step lively if you want it.
She goes to print soon.
