Got an extremely valuable copywriting resource to tell you about today.

A resource not 1 in 100 copywriters knows about… costs less than $2.00… and was told to me by none other than Gary Bencivenga (universally considered the world’s greatest living copywriter) himself.

Anyway, here’s the story:

Last January I bought Gary Bencivenga’s Seminar on DVD, was BLOWN away by it… and felt compelled to send him (and his wife Pauline) an email telling them about it.

To my amazement, he emailed me back with a note about how he had long enjoyed my site (zowie!)… and how he was sending me a little gift by mail.

He didn’t say exactly what he was sending.

Just that it was a slender little volume his mentor (advertising legend David Ogilvy) said had changed his life and urged all his employees to read at least once per year.

A few days later, a 32-page pamphlet-like book called, “Obvious Adams” arrived in my mailbox.

What the heck is “Obvious Adams”?

“Obvious Adams” is a short story about an advertising man who was not the best or most skilled copywriter… but whose ads were ultra successful simply because he knew how to spot the “obvious” solutions to problems.

It’s an absolutely fascinating read.

And it teaches a special kind of “mindset” you won’t find in other copywriting books.

Plus, even though it was published waaaaay back in 1916, it’s just as relevant (heck, even MORE relevant) today.

Bottom line?

This remarkable little book has been endorsed by some of history’s greatest copywriting minds.

It eliminates much of the anxiety that comes with direct marketing.

And, if you apply its wisdom, you can’t help but write better ads.

Anyway, if you’re interested, there are some copies on eBay selling for less than $2.00 each right now:

Let me know what you think when you read it…

Google has scanned the entire “Obvious Adams” book and it’s available as a free pdf download. Just ‘Google’ obvious adams and it comes up as the second entry on the page.

Thanks for the heads up Joachim — although I always prefer hard copy to digital, but for those who prefer digital, you can’t beat that price :)

I got this awhile back from an internet marketer. It’s a great story. It was so good I wondered why I hadn’t ever heard of this famous copywriter “Obvious Adams”. So I Googled his name and found out why :)

I hear ya Dr. Beck — when I first got it I thought, “How could I NOT have known about ‘ol Obvious before???”

Went ahead and bought a copy b/c of your post.

I figure if you, Bencivenga, and Ted Nicholas recommend it, it’s probably worth reading. :-)

Thanks, Ben.
